What is muscle stimulation treatment?
Focused electromagnetic energy is used to induce supra-physiological muscle contractions to build muscle and aid in fat loss as contracting muscles use fat for energy.
Supra-physiological means it is not possible to stimulate so many muscle fibres to maximum intensity solely by voluntary exercise. When we exercise it is not possible to voluntarily recruit so many muscle fibres to an extent that our machine does.
Is it not easier and cheaper to just exercise?
The machine works by forced muscle contractions as muscle fibres are exposed to electromagnetic energy- so these are involuntary contractions and these are much more powerful than the isometric contractions that we can stimulate ourselves. Of course exercise is best- this is more intense and sustained contraction so builds more muscle than exercise alone can. This is also suitable for patients who cannot exercise due to certain reasons.
How does this compare to other muscle stimulating machines ?
This is more powerful than electrical muscle stimulation devices such as TENS machines or micro-current machines. Electrical devices can only stimulate superficial muscle fibres and can be painful. Elecromagnetic devices subject target muscles to elecro-magnetic energy so no electrodes or needles are required. It also stimulates the whole muscles which are subjected to intense contractions due to the magnetic field. So this is like exercise without exercising and you get more benefit than from exercise alone.

Is the treatment painful ?
The treatment is enjoyable and sensation is that of muscle contraction and like an exercise session.
Who is not suitable for treatment ?
Contraindications
• pregnancy and breastfeeding
• neoplasia
• severe dyslipidemia;
• serious liver problems
• pacemaker wearers or internal defibrillators;
• carriers of metal plates or other prosthetics in the treated area
• surgical operations in the treatment area in the last 3 months or before full recovery
What happens during the treatment ?
You will be lying comfortably on the couch. Treatment applicator/s will be positioned over the muscles to be treated. You will feel pleasant sensation. There is muscle contractions but no pain. After 30 min the applicator/s will be removed and you will be able to resume normal activities immediately.
What precautions are needed during treatment?
No electronic devices/ mobile phones/ jewellery or metal objects are permitted due to strong magnetic fields. You are welcome to bring a book/ magazine to read.
How many sessions are recommended?
4-6 sessions, two sessions a week.
